TEAM EUROPE SUPPORTS ACP COUNTRIES TO ACCESS FINANCE THROUGH DIGITAL TECHNOLOGY

LEARNINGS FROM DIGITALIZATION OF DAIRY VALUE CHAIN IN NEPAL
 With more than 66 percent of Nepalese dependent on agriculture, the introduction of digital financial services (DFS) offerings in the agriculture sector became essential for not only expanding the ecosystem of DFS but also to ensure progressive growth of access to finance in rural areas.

The UNCDF partnership with Prabhu Management on dairy digitalization is a prime example of an innovative and sustainable solution in the value chain benefiting various stakeholders in rural areas who were previously deprived of accessible financial services. It serves as an excellent model for digitalization of other value chains in the agriculture sector, offering rich insights and learnings for reaching out to small-holder farmers and rural entrepreneurs.

DIGITAL COMMUNITY ENTREPRENEURS TO CLOSE THE DIGITAL GAP IN RURAL UGANDA The Digital Community Entrepreneur (DCE) model is one of the innovative business models by UNCDF to reach last mile populations in a sustainable way. The model is premised on using young farmers with high business acumen and a support management structure to improve digital and financial literacy.

By driving the uptake of digital financial services, the usage of other digital innovations and digital literacy, the model contributes to increased farm productivity, improved farm management, access to energy, improved access to markets, and consequently increased incomes for rural farmers.
