Brussels, 2nd October 2024. The OACPS Secretariat in collaboration with Rud Pedersen Public Affairs organise today a hybrid high-level roundtable discussion expected to be a pivotal step towards fortifying the partnership between the Organization of African, Caribbean, and Pacific States (OACPS) and the European Union (EU), particularly in fostering the development of a sustainable green value chain. This
initiative is aligned with the EU’s comprehensive approach to achieving a Net Zero transition, the OACPS New Approach to green supply chains, and the SAMOA Agreement, all focusing on sustainable production systems within the green economy framework.
This roundtable will delve into the strategies required to build resilient green value chain partnerships, essential for both the EU and OACPS to meet their environmental and economic goals within the framework of the SAMOA Agreement.
Discussion topics include:
- Partnership Frameworks: How to establish robust mechanisms for collaboration between EU and OACPS businesses in the green supply chain/green production industry.
- Green Value Chain Integration: Practical steps for OACPS businesses to align with the EU’s green transition, focusing on sustainable practices, technologies and support measures.
- Facilitating Green Investments: Identifying opportunities and challenges in financing the transition to green agriculture and sustainable food systems.
This roundtable is designed to catalyse action toward establishing a resilient and sustainable green value chain between the EU and OACPS. By focusing on practical and strategic collaborations, the discussions aim to pave the way for integrating OACPS businesses into the broader European green transition, ensuring they are equipped and supported in the journey towards sustainable development.
