The OACPS brings its voice at the World Without Hunger Conference

Speaking at High-level Political Panel UNIDO/AUC at World Without Hunger Conference, held in Addis Ababa on 7 November 2024, Mr. Junior Lodge, Assistant Secretary-General of the OACPS Secretariat presented a comprehensive approach to combat hunger, especially in Africa. “The fight against hunger requires a multidimensional approach that combines agricultural productivity, trade facilitation, social protection, climate action, and the empowerment of women and youth. No single policy will suffice – but together, through collective action, coordinated policies, and sustained investment, we can build a future free from hunger”, declared Mr. Lodge. The Assistant Secretary-General highlighted how tackling tax evasion could generate $480 billion annually to fund these initiatives. As a conclusion, Mr. Lodge called for united action across governments, organizations, private sector, and civil society to realize a hunger-free world: “Let us turn our aspirations into concrete actions, ensuring that every person, in every OACPS country, has access to nutritious food and the opportunity to live a healthy, productive life. Let us be guided by the belief that a world without hunger is within our reach—if we are guided by a clear workplan, regular monitoring, and harnessing power of partnerships.
